Same-Day RT-PCR (Laboratory-Processed) Rapid COVID Test In Orange County

The RT-PCR COVID-19 is a molecular test, which uses reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for detection of active SARS COVID-19 infection.

Nasopharyngeal Swab / Laboratory-Processed by High-Complex Lab

RT-PCR COVID-19 tests are the Gold Standard of COVID tests. Same-day PCR tests are processed through a laboratory, allowing for more accuracy than on-site tests. Same-day COVID testing is 99% accurate, with or without noticeable COVID symptoms. The nasopharyngeal swab is performed on-site through our drive-through service.

The RT-PCR test satisfies most travel requirements. However, it is the purchaser’s responsibility to verify that their test will be accepted for travel prior to purchase.

The RT-PCR test looks for COVID-19 by its genetic material, namely the SARS-CoV-2 virus’s RNA. By collecting samples from the upper respiratory system through nasopharyngeal swabs, the test can go down to the molecular level to identify the virus. PCR tests can only identify current COVID infections for diagnosis purposes. It cannot determine whether you have been infected in the past.

PCR tests are incredibly accurate due to their increased sensitivity. Lab-processed RT-PCR tests are 99% accurate, even with early-stage infections and no present COVID-19 symptoms. That’s why they are considered the Gold Standard of COVID testing. Patients do not need to wait the full incubation period of 5-6 days before being tested.

While a Rapid PCR test is highly accurate and the Gold Standard COVID diagnostic test, even before COVID symptoms appear, it is not infallible. False negative COVID test results can still happen, though they are relatively rare. This typically depends on how early after exposure that you schedule your rapid COVID test in Orange County. Testing only a day or two after exposure, before symptoms typically appear, can lead to false positives without enough of the virus present. The typical incubation period for COVID-19 is after 5-6 days, so PCR tests are least likely to produce false negatives.

There are several Rapid COVID tests, including multiple RT-PCR tests. Our testing sites offer Same-Day, Next-Day, and 1-Hour PCR testing as well as Rapid Antigen and Antibody tests. Antigen tests are another diagnostic test to detect current COVID infections, while Antibody tests detect previous infection.

PCR tests are a diagnostic test used to tell whether a person is currently infected with COVID. Antibody tests instead detect whether they have had COVID in the past. They can also tell if someone has been fully vaccinated. They do this by looking for COVID antibodies, which only appear weeks after exposure as the body’s immune response learns how to fight SARS-CoV-2. Antibody tests also do not use a nasal swab, instead requiring a finger prick blood sample.

Rapid diagnostic tests like the RT-PCR and Antigen tests are used to determine whether a person is actively infected with COVID-19. Both tests do this through a nasal swab to collect current COVID samples. Rapid Antigen and 1-hour PCR tests are processed on-site and can deliver results in as little as 15-30 minutes. However, Same-Day and Next-Day PCR tests are performed on-site but examined in a lab, meaning COVID test results will be available by the end of day either that day or the next.

A negative PCR test likely means that you did not have COVID at the time of your test. While you do not need to self-isolate, you should still take recommended precautions to protect yourself and those around you from future infection. If you start experiencing COVID-19 symptoms after your test, it is highly recommended that you book another diagnostic COVID test. It is possible that you were later exposed and infected or your previous test was taken before there was enough SARS-CoV-2 in your body for the PCR test to detect. You can easily schedule your rapid COVID test in Orange County online through our site.

You should get a diagnostic COVID test if you believe you have been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus or you are currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. These symptoms include fever, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, (new) loss of taste or smell, coughing and congestion, muscle aches, fatigue, and nausea. If you experience severe and emergency COVID-symptoms, you should instead seek emergency care as soon as possible. Patients may also need a COVID test due to requirements for school, work, amusement parks, and international travel.
